History
Equine Medical Associates, PSC, was founded in 1991 by Dr. James P. Morehead. The company was incorporated in 1996 as a Professional Service Corporation in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Beginning as a solo practice , the volume of clientele and desire to provide quality service in a timely fashion necessitated searching for experienced veterinarians to assist the practice. Ownership changed in 2008 as Drs. Eric Peterson and Jeremy Whitman became partners.
EMA services a broad based clientele representing broodmare farms, sales/auctions, racing and training, horse shows and sport horses including western performance, eventing, dressage, hunters, jumpers, and pet horses. The practice also has a long history of consulting with Lloyd’s of London brokers on difficult insurance cases. EMA employs nine equine veterinarians, including those board certified in surgery, medicine and critical care and two seasonal board certified surgeons.
